Let’s get right to the point; I do not care about people hogging a machine, talking instead of working out, wearing tight clothes and walking around like a muscle-head, talking on the cell phone to look important, or anything else. It’s their lives, not mine. I DO CARE about hygiene and it pains me to no end when someone smells foul, has bad breath that makes doing cardio near them impossible (happens more than you think), don’t clean their sweat of a cardio machine, and bring a 3 year old girl into the men’s locker room and then mean-mug a person who changes in front of said girl (not hygiene, but it pisses me off). It’s not the insecurities that bother me, but the lack of common courtesy….

Why is it that fitness experts seemingly always mention how many books they read outside of the realm of their expertise; really, why not just say, “I’m insecure” and be done with it? It’s hilarious, but all these experts learn something new and then BOOM it suddenly holds so much importance; however, if you’d mentioned to them 6 months ago they’d scoff at you for being such a rube. The bottom line is the more you learn about fitness, the less you really know to be true and the more multifaceted it all becomes. It’s called critical thought for a reason.

Hilton’s Law essentially states that the nerve root supplying a joint supplies the muscles attaching to that joint, as well as the overlying fascia and skin. Looking at this from a different perspective it means a joint dysfunction, often times originally caused by a muscle imbalance, is now in a cyclical relationship that doesn’t necessarily allow the muscles to heal properly. It’s all connected….

A lot of folks are still coming in with “what they learned it ‘06” – I’ll avoid that list and make a simple point of emphasizing focus. It’s easy to want to learn EVERYTHING, but this usually leads you to skim the surface and not take the deep dive necessary to truly understand a topic. IMO it’s all about critical thought and not memorizing information and that in and of itself is a lesson I relearn every single year in a slightly different manner.

There a growing trend amongst “experts” to classify muscles as those which stabilize and/or mobilize. Yes, certain muscles have a tendency to perform a particular action; however, all muscles act in synergy to allow a human being to function in gravity. It’s about quality movement and not muscles!

Let’s get the party rolling with my first post, shall we? I have a lot to say and hopefully a long time to say it; however, with the lack of snow plowing done in Colorado the odds of survival are declining every time I leave the house. My web developer wants me to write about balance and posture EVERY DAY in order to increase my search engine rankings. Basically, the higher my “visibility” becomes in the “organic” search engines the more traffic my site receives. The more traffic, the more people buy my flagship product. Come to think of it you’ll be reading A LOT about balance and posture on these pages! Anyhow, please tune-in often and you won’t be disappointed.
