Diet
Why diet to “simply” lose weight; really, isn’t being healthy the main purpose? It’s sad that a number means more to people than it should.

Everyone’s heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the deal. It revs up your metabolism and provides nutrients to get going after a night of sleep (e.g. 7-8 hour without eating!). However, it depends on what you eat or in other words what’s better: skipping breakfast or eating a couple donuts?
I won’t get into the creatine debate; essentially, it works and research studies have not documented any side effects other than water retention and possible cramping. Here’s another possible benefit: basically, the “new age” thinking is to add a pinch of sea salt into your 8-12 glasses of water each day to starve off “your bodies cries for water” – well, if creatine makes you “keep water” it’s actually working to keep you healthy beyond increasing performance…. unless of course it’s not safely regulating the amount of water you retain, but this is a post for another day!
I’ll stay with the topic of nutrition and discuss my recent experience during a run for the border; essentially, the employees didn’t wear gloves and actually ate while they were preparing customer’s food! Just another reason I won’t go drive thru and want to see what’s taking place prior to chowing down. Needless to say I wasn’t a patron of the fine establishment in question.
So I’m giving my 2 year old a healthy Whole Foods snack and innocently enough take a peek at the label. Sure enough it claims “No Trans Fat,” but its ingredients shows otherwise! A little research and I find that anything less than .50 grams is considered to be without Trans Fat; however, the food manufacturer can decide the portion size or in other words one cookie the size of a fingernail can have .49 grams and it’s legal. Pathetic!
